A practice can connect a personal Google account for two separate purposes: bringing its contacts into the practice directory, and linking Drive files as documents. They are connected, tested and disconnected independently, and you can use either or both.
Before you start
- Connecting is limited to people allowed to manage connectors. Only a practice owner can disconnect one.
- Nothing is written back to Google, in either case. Antevasin Design only reads.
Connecting
- Open Settings, then Connectors.
- Choose Connect Google contacts or Connect Google Drive.
- Sign in to Google and approve what is asked.
You return to Connectors with the account listed. If you decline, nothing is connected.
Importing contacts
Beside a connected Google contacts account, choose Import.
- You pick a contact group, not your whole address book.
- You review what would be created before anything is saved.
- Only name, organisation, job title, email, phone numbers and postal addresses are read.
The connector shows when you last imported.
Linking Drive files
Drive works differently: there is no import. Link files from the Documents page, where a picker lets you choose them.
A linked document stores a reference only: the file's name, type, link and modified time, never the file itself. Open in Google Drive takes you to the live file, and Refresh updates the details held here. Beside a connected Drive account, Import projects helps you bring existing projects across from your folder names.
If something stops working
Choose Test connection beside the account. It checks that Google still accepts the connection and that it still holds the access this connector needs, and tells you which has failed. In nearly every case the fix is to disconnect the account and connect it again.
