Sending a drawing to a client or consultant

How issuing and sharing differ, how to send to several people at once, and how to withdraw a link.

Sending a drawing has two parts that are deliberately separate: issuing it, and sharing the issue with a person.

Issue, then share

An issue freezes the drawing as it is now: a PDF, and optionally the 3D model. It happens once. A share is one recipient's link into that existing issue.

This is why sending the same revision to a second person later, such as the structural engineer after the client, does not render anything again. Everyone with a link to an issue sees exactly the same frozen content.

Sending

  1. Open the Share dialog from the drawing and choose what to include.
  2. Pick recipients from your Contacts. The picker searches by name or email, and you can pick several. Add someone who is not in Contacts by typing their email, and choose whether to also save them.
  3. Send. Each recipient gets their own emailed link and, when they open it, their own one-time code.

Afterwards

The drawing's Shares page lists every issue and who it went to. From there you can:

  • send an existing issue to another recipient;
  • withdraw a recipient's link (revoke it);
  • read and reply to comments;
  • review the activity log: when each link was opened, which code was verified, what was viewed and downloaded.

A set of drawings

A Drawing Set, built on the project page, combines sheets from several drawings into one PDF. It is issued and shared the same way. If any drawing has changed since you built the set, you are asked to rebuild it before issuing, so what you send is never out of date.
